About Me & My Work
I am a certified Psychological Color Expert and have my certification from Kristie Barnett, “The Decorologist”, an internationally acclaimed residential color and home staging expert. I have also completed courses with color expert Maria Killam, the New York School of Interior Design, and am currently completing my Interior Design certification from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Most importantly, I have learned much from my life-long passion (ahem, obsession) for interiors, and decorating for myself and others. My own home is my laboratory!
Being a born and raised southerner, decorating is in my bones and I love tradition, but I’m certainly not afraid of drama, the unexpected, and having fun with interiors.
My first career was as a professional clarinetist. I believe color and our surroundings effects us just as music does. Being a classical musician also afforded me the opportunity to travel abroad extensively, live in two foreign countries, and work alongside many different kinds of people. It certainly has given me a much more worldly perspective, certainly in terms of design and the way I approach my work.
My goal in working with clients is not only to help them love their home and achieve the feel they want in a space, but to create a home that has a sense of flow, cohesion, and balance. I believe in timeless spaces, with a nod to the present, that can easily and inexpensively be updated with the right accessories to fit current trends (or not!). I tend to use a combination of old and new, as a home feels like a home when it contains items with a story or personal connection, that also can also be seamlessly integrated into the overall design.
I not only believe, but I KNOW, your home can look and feel expensive, without being expensive (just ask my husband who has to deal with my Facebook Marketplace and eBay habits) - so much has to do with the right color/color placement, and knowing where and what to invest in, versus where to not put your money..
